Wood carving is practiced in different countries of the world, Mexico is one of them.

Each country has a unique style and even handcrafted tools that allow to forge a style unique to the region.

In Oaxaca, there are different communities dedicated to wood carving, the community of San Antonio Arrazola is one of them, located 30 minutes away from the city of Oaxaca, with an approximate population of 1622 inhabitants in the year 2023 according to INEGI. Eighty percent of the population is dedicated to this noble craft.

With more than 50 years of wood carving, this town has offered great artists who have participated in international art fairs and exhibitions.

Each piece reflects the creativity and style of the artisan, which makes each figure a unique and collectible piece.

In Arrazola, each family creates and perfects their own style of sculpture, not only in wood but also in painting, and each mind shapes ideas in their works.

It could be said that the artisan's style arises from the creation, development and improvement of the art. Adopting techniques that he has learned over time.

There is no doubt that styles evolve over the years and Arrazola's sculpture and painting will be no exception.

For the moment I recommend enjoying the current styles that artisans of the community offer to the whole world.
